Roadmap
What’s done and what comes next. Every planned item has a GitHub issue where you can follow progress or share ideas.
Done
- RomM client with Client API Token auth, paginated listings and resumable downloads
- RomM → ES-DE folder mapping for every platform, with ES-DE, EmuDeck and RetroDECK profiles
- Safe downloads: resume, file locking, size checks, path-traversal guard, adoption of games already on disk
- CLI with
--jsonoutput for scripts - Controller-friendly TUI with Library and Downloads tabs, a Steam-style download bar and a help screen
- Keyboard or controller hints depending on how rommate was started
- Releases for Linux (x86-64, ARM64), macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows, an install script and this website
- Local server address with automatic fallback and mDNS
.localnames on every system - Direct controller input on Linux: works with Steam’s default gamepad layout, no key mapping needed
- Save sync for RetroArch, melonDS, Azahar, PPSSPP and the Eden family, with a Saves tab, conflict resolution and backups
- Decky plugin for Game Mode: browse and download, open the TUI as a Steam shortcut, sync saves when a game closes
- Search with
/: every platform through RomM, or filter a platform’s games - Settings tab that saves to
config.toml - Cover art for ES-DE
Next: browsing
- #2 Collections tab: download a whole RomM collection at once
Then: everything around the games
- #5 BIOS / firmware sync
- #6 Save sync: more emulators (Dolphin, DuckStation, Cemu, PS2 memory cards) and syncing when a game closes in the Decky plugin
- #11 Multi-file games:
.cue/.binchecks and.m3uplaylists - #10 gamelist.xml: descriptions, ratings and more media for ES-DE
Later
- #7 Mod manager for emulators that support mods, linked by title ID
- #12 Other servers such as Retrom
- #13 Packages for nixpkgs, Flathub and the AUR
